We are seeking to appoint a teaching house dean to join the pastoral care team for the middle and senior schools at our college, in time for the beginning of term 1, late January 2021.
Our pastoral care system is based around 8 vertical houses made up of approximately 100 students from Y7–13. In this important role, you will lead a team of pastoral care staff, and support the senior leadership team and teachers to ensure the physical and emotional welfare of students, particularly within your designated house. It is our aim to offer a pastoral care programme that means students are safe, happy, involved and integrating well with others, and that any problems are spotted and dealt with as soon as possible. Effective pastoral care also helps to maintain a high level of student attendance and supports their successful achievement. Your teaching, student management and pastoral care experience will be a critical part of what enables the college to provide an environment where our students can shine.
Our college is a world-class co-educational independent school with a strong Presbyterian heritage. Based in the Eastern suburbs of Wellington, New Zealand, the college offers a vibrant learning environment, encouraging excellence in every facet of education. The college is proud of its dedicated staff who work hard to support and encourage the students. The school environment is strong and the staff work closely with parents to obtain the best outcomes for their children.
You will have already had some experience in the pastoral care of students and be aspiring for your next career challenge. You will be well used to a dynamic environment where the wellbeing of the students is paramount. You will be fully involved in all aspects of college life and pursue excellence in all you do.
