We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate certificated teacher/kaiako join our team.

About us:

We are part of Central Kids Early Education, which operate 56 other kindergartens and centres across the central North Island.

Central Kids provide access to high-quality professional development opportunities and ongoing professional support to maintain quality teaching practice.

We are party to the Kindergarten Teachers' Collective Agreement, which provides 6 weeks' annual leave, 9 days' sick leave and ample non-contact/professional time.

At our centre we encourage and support our tamariki, whānau and kaiako/teachers to learn in A tōna wā/In their own time.

We have an inviting, well-resourced environment to encourage child-initiated play. Our passion is to support our tamariki to problem solve for themselves and with their peers.

We offer Kōhanga Ngahere, where our 8 eldest tamariki go out into the bush each week to climb higher, explore, imagine, observe, listen, be resilient, wonder why, get messy, test boundaries, take responsible risks, make new friendships and learn to respect Papatūānuku.

Whānau are able to access a neutral, friendly environment, where they feel comfortable to stay with their child, meet other parents and talk with kaiako/teachers. We have been established in Putaruru for 50 years and are proud of our strong relationships within this community.

We are looking for a teacher with the following attributes:

  • Motivated, enthusiastic, able to put current theory into practice
  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Te Whāriki
  • Able to have robust conversations and work with a team who have a strong emphasis on whakawhanaungatanga as they support each child's social and emotional growth
  • Committed to creating/maintaining strong, positive relationships with whānau
  • Able to demonstrate a growth mindset, be open and willing to change that enables us to continue providing high-quality early education to all tamariki who attend our service
  • ECE qualified and hold current certification and a current first aid certificate.
