Key responsibilities

  • To provide regular progress reports to schools, the Lead Principal of the SWKA (South Wairarapa Kāhui Ako), the SWKA Leadership Group and the Rōpū-a-Hapū.
  • To chair the hui of the Roopū a Hapū.
  • Lead the writing of the Hapū/Iwi Strategic Plan for and with the SWKA Leadership group, the Kaitiaki Academy (a roopū of students from across kura who learn and lead te reo Māori) and the Kaiārahi.
  • To support the Kaiārahi with the delivery of the academy programme.
  • To ensure evaluations and assessments are responsive to the aspirations of the programme and meet the learning needs of the participants.

Key tasks

  • Collaborate with Kaiārahi to design,  and plan and implement the Kaitiaki Academy programme.
  • Organise hui with SWKA, & Roōopū a Hapū/Iwi, and the SWKA Leadership Group
  • Organise ‘noho’ and marae visits as per programme requirements. 

Key skills

  • Must have a good understanding of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga o Wairarapa and a commitment to developing this knowledge and skills if necessary
  • Must be knowledgeable of the South Wairarapa hapū and their communities
  • Must have a relationship with both Ngati Kahungunu ki Wairarapa iwi and Rangitāne or the ability to quickly establish a good relationship with them 
  • Project management
  • Administration skills including IT literacy i.e. Google Drive or similar
  • Strategy writing

Projects for 2021

  • Matariki celebration for South Wairarapa in collaboration with Kaiarahi and other local stakeholders
  • Written profile of the Kāhui Ako hapū group
