Our special school is looking for an experienced teacher to support students with a range of neurodiversites at the secondary level (13–21 years) at our base in South Auckland. This is a full-time permanent position.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a New Zealand registered teacher, with proven experience in teaching teenage students with special needs and managing challenging behaviours
  • Have a sound knowledge of autism
  • Hold a special education qualification and/or have participated in professional development that is relevant to the needs of students with special needs or challenges in adapting to regular programmes
  • Have a range of effective skills that assist students to learn. These may include the use of social stories, functional analysis of comprehension and behaviour, setting SMART targets, individualising programmes, use of appropriate feedback strategies, and structuring the classroom environment
  • Be able to develop and implement systems which promote independence.
