Leading the specialist teachers of ORS funded students across our Whanganui region.
This is an exciting opportunity for an effective, experienced special education teacher who is approachable and builds positive relationships. We are seeking a culturally competent leader that will foster educational success for Māori and Pacific learners. The qualified educator will lead, mentor and support a team of specialist teachers to meet the needs of our diverse learners.
This is a leadership position which requires a person with initiative and strong organisational skills. This person will make decisions for the good of the organisation as a whole in line with the school vision and collaborate with the Regional Management team. A willingness to collaborate with therapists and other support agencies is essential.
The following experience will be an advantage:
Adapting learning programmes, resources and environment for complex needs learners
Understanding of student health needs and implementing care plans
Conducting and tracking Individual Education Plans (IEP)
Be familiar with the Ka Hikitia, Tapasā and Whare Tapa Whā.
