Bring your passion and energy for young people disengaged from mainstream schooling as a support teacher at Marist Alternative Education Centre.

The role will suit a person experienced in education, youth work or social work experienced in dealing with challenging learners and comfortable working in a team environment within the Champagnat Marist ethos. Applicants will be able to work effectively in an alternative education setting using individual education plans in a multilevel teaching context. The preferred candidate will have strong personal resilience and a natural rapport with young people.

You will be responsible for supporting curriculum planning, assisting in delivering the curriculum, motivating other support staff and students to achieve credits, managing team dynamics and being flexible in their approach to learning.

This position would suit a patient level headed person who is willing to adapt and has experience in education, youth work or social work.

The position commences immediately.

A current driver’s licence and ability to drive manual van and car is essential. Applicants must have NZ residency. The successful applicant will need to meet the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act of 2014 and a clear police record.
