We are a specialist school in a rapidly growing multicultural community and our roll is growing too. A number of satellite units are being planned with innovative learning environments. Our pedagogy is changing to student-directed learning and we are exploring a Reggio inspired approach in our own unique way. We are well on the way with the digital technology curriculum and classes are provided with a variety of digital equipment which is very motivating for our students.
As assistant principal you will be a key member of the leadership team working in collaboration with our other school leaders to harness potential and build a stronger school that can be agile in its aim to deliver the programmes and learning culture required to ensure exceptional levels of achievement and pastoral care for our students across our base and twelve satellite classes.
To be successful in this role you will need:
Experience as an educational leader with proven skills in growing staff capacity
A sound knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and the skills and capability to adapt this to the Reggio inspired pedagogy
An innovative and creative forward-thinking approach
A passion for special education
Strong management skills in planning and organisation and leading change
Strengths in fostering collegial teams including a high number of learning assistants, therapists and a social worker
A dedication to your own and others' professional development
A demonstrated practice of self-reflection and continuous improvement
An ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with our whānau in order to support their journey with their children who have very special learning needs.
