NKA is seeking an experienced and motivated head teacher to lead a committed team in the Kaipara, Northland. This is a re-advertised position.

Our kindergarten’s curriculum is inspired and influenced by an infusion of approaches to teaching and learning including Te Whāriki, Reggio Emilia, and the Incredible Years. Teachers work in partnership with whānau to enhance and enrich learning for children.

As the head teacher you will be welcomed into a team connected to the attending community. You will enjoy working closely with whānau and supporting active children who arrive from both rural and urban spaces.

As a leader you will also:

  • Be able to demonstrate outstanding leadership, management and mentoring skills
  • Have pedagogical leadership and knowledge of Te Whāriki, with strengths in planning, assessment and documentation
  • Be fully committed to Te Ao Māori and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Have excellent communication with all members of the wider kindergarten community
  • Be a collaborative and positive team player, able to lead with shared vision and goals.

Our kindergarten has a team of 5 teachers and a part-time administrator. The kindergarten operates five, 6-hour sessions Monday to Friday, catering for 40 children between 2 and 6 years of age.

The kindergarten is part of a network of 22 kindergartens within the NKA. The kindergarten is supported by a professional practice and management team.
