We are looking for an experienced, fully registered teacher to join our team at Te Au rere a te Tonga Youth Residence in Palmerston North. Both primary and secondary-trained teachers are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will understand the needs of our diverse students aged between 14 and 18 years, have recent successful experience engaging youth in education and be able to work within a strong, dynamic team.

The ability to plan and teach units of work across a variety of curriculum areas, as well as supporting students to develop their cultural belonging and identity, is essential. Experience in teaching hard and soft materials technology at a secondary school level is an advantage. The ability to develop programmes that focus on skills for living independently, vocational training and becoming work ready is also desirable.

Our team focus is on planning, teaching, learning and reporting as well as supporting student transition. There is very little need for extracurricular or lunchtime duties.

We encourage interested teachers to arrange a visit to the site as this is a unique and challenging learning environment.
