Head of English literature

Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Middle leadership

Listed 9:28 AM 13 February 2020
Closes 5pm 20 March 2020
Vacancy reference #: 1HA5SQ

Our independent Y10–13 IB World School is seeking a head of English literature starting in July or earlier by negotiation. Experience of IB literature teaching is desirable but not essential as is previous departmental leadership experience. The HOD will also assume responsibility for the literature component of the Y11 preparation year course and the sixth month ESOL course which is offered in Y10.

We are a highly academic school, with a tradition of outstanding academic results and global university placements each year. The college is small by NZ standards with around 250 students, has a university campus feel and very friendly atmosphere. The students are a joy to work with on all levels and you can ‘teach’, as class management is rarely required, and students and staff are well-supported by an excellent pastoral system and staff. The college has approximately 60% international students and operates a boarding house, currently located in the Avondale area of the city.

Candidates must be registered with the NZ Teaching Council or be able to become registered.
