We have a great opportunity to join our kindergarten team who are innovative in the development of their cultural framework, Te Puna o Pukekaihou and actively engaged in the Enviroschools kaupapa.

The HKA has 16 kindergartens located in the Hawke's Bay.

About us:

  • We are a rural kindergarten in Central Hawke's Bay with a licence for 30 children
  • Our philosophy is one of respect and authenticity that focuses on relationships with all ākonga, whānau, community and their cultures, in a nurturing, sustainable and peaceful environment
  • Our team are innovative, forward-thinking and relationship-based kaiako who are focused on positive individual outcomes for all ākonga
  • Our curriculum is developed in consultation with whānau and reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the kindergarten's local history. Our kindergarten is built on a historically significant site and operates our own localised curriculum, 'Te Puna o Pukekaihou'.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be up-to-date with early childhood education theory and be able to demonstrate how they put this into practice
  • Have a working knowledge of Te Whāriki
  • Be committed to building strong, positive relationships within the wider community and outside agencies
  • Build strong relationships and work in collaboration with whānau
  • Be forward-thinking, following the aspirations of whānau in a child-led curriculum
  • Be confident in using technology and be able to competently use Microsoft Suite and Storypark
  • Be flexible and open to change
  • Be actively engaged in professional growth.

All applicants must hold a current practising certificate (full or provisional), first aid certificate and a recognised ECE qualification.
