We are seeking a suitably qualified guidance counsellor or psychologist to join our wellbeing team.

Ideally you will:

  • Hold a current membership or provisional status with NZAC or similar professional body
  • Be a registered teacher with a current practising certificate
  • Have an understanding of school systems and contexts and be able to contribute to the decision making of the wellbeing team
  • Acknowledge and respect diversity of culture, gender, age, disability, religion and sexual orientation
  • Have the experience and capacity to work autonomously with the support of the wider wellbeing team
  • Be a skilled communicator
  • Have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students
  • Be familiar with wider youth services and agencies for referral and support.

We are an innovative and forward-thinking decile 8 coeducational Y7–13 school located in Leeston, approximately 30 minutes south of Christchurch. Over the coming years there is expected significant roll growth, and the planning for a complete school rebuild is underway. This is an exciting time to join a progressive school and be a part of leading and designing change in New Zealand education and the wellbeing of our youth.

We are a PB4L school, utilising restorative practices, and are introducing the KIVA programme this year. We believe strongly in building and enhancing positive professional relationships with young people, taking a ‘strengths-based’ approach, and placing wellbeing at the centre of development. The guidance team are a key part of our school community and play an integral role in nurturing the wellbeing of all our whānau. We are an active member of the Ngā Mātāpuna Kāhui.
