Due to an external promotion, parental leave and an increase in our enrolments, our community-based, bilingual centre is looking for an ECE qualified (must be NZ recognised) and fully registered educator to be a member in our tuākana centre.

Our core values are central to 'whakawhanaungatanga' aspects, which provide a high-quality cultural and diverse learning environment with interactive, meaningful and memorable learning experiences for our tamariki. We are seeking a highly motivated kaiako to be a part of our team. This is a great opportunity to join a fun, friendly and energetic team environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Build good, open relationships with our tamariki, their whānau, wider community and our team
  • Observe and record children’s growth, development and behaviour using electronic portfolios
  • Create positive learning environments including resources based on child-directed learning
  • Ensure the learning environment is clean, hygienic and safe
  • Develop and implement a curriculum founded on the centre’s philosophy
  • Actively participate and contribute to centre internal evaluatios, hui and professional development, etc
  • Actively promote and strengthen our bicultural approach.

You will need:

  • Sound written and oral communication skills
  • Fantastic organisational and teamwork skills
  • A good level of computer literacy
  • Current first aid certificate
  • A full driver’s licence (with the ability to drive a manual preferred)
  • A strong understanding of Te Whāriki, Te Whatu Pokeka and Our Code, Our Standards (to help develop and support kaiako in training and provisionally registered)
  • A passion and motivation for the implementation of a bicultural curriculum that promotes positive outcomes for our tamariki.

  • At least 5 hours non-contact 
  • Staff discount available for own tamariki
  • 12 days' sick leave/4 weeks annual leave
  • Starting rate $25 (negotiable).
