We are seeking a passionate, positive and engaging registered teacher to join our learning community, focused on developing a highly cultural and responsive field-based STEAM curriculum.
Applicants will have experience in the delivery of PE, including Mau Rākau training, and speciality sports coaching such as waka ama, with a strong knowledge base in the Whare Tapa Whā model, and be able to engage and connect with young Māori and Pasifika males. Familiarity with the use of culturally appropriate contemporary research tools for the purposes of monitoring Hau Ora is preferred.
Must have strong te reo Māori and Tikanga Māori knowledge.
Other desirable attributes include fluency in a second language, confidence in using a range of digital platforms and apps, and experience with individual learning plans.
We are a designated character school for male secondary students, from Y11–13. Located in beautiful Hawke's Bay, the academy has a focus on providing a link between education and future employment through vocational pathways. The academy operates small class sizes, and has a very supportive staff environment, including strong pastoral care support for students.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about working with youth and have the skills and mindset to facilitate all manner of learning with predominantly Māori and Pasifika students.
