Assistant head teacher
We are in the process of restructuring our management style to a Distributed Leadership Model. While we develop this approach we require an assistant head teacher to support the head teacher, particularly with the administrative and regulatory requirements involved in running and managing a centre. A requirement for this position is prior experience in leadership and managing in ECE.
The assistant head teacher role requires experience, skill and the ability to manage in the following areas: relievers and staffing, policies and systems, internal evaluation and self-review, health and safety processes as well as all other aspects managing in ECE. Also necessary is knowledge and expertise in curriculum design and implementation, particularly in the areas of Te Tiriti Curriculum, Pasifika, Cultural Identity, RIE philosophy, and Older Learners Curriculum/Transition to School. Your job will be to support the head teacher by taking on, contributing to, or supporting in, whichever aspects of management are necessary. The allocation or adoption of specific tasks will be negotiated. This role requires a strong pedagogical leader as well as a team player with excellent interpersonal and relational skills who is able to come on board with our existing philosophy, practices, and pedagogical approach, all of which are specific to our history, context and community and strongly focused on best practice and ensuring positive outcomes for learners.
