At MIT, we offer our students access to our early childhood education centre. This centre cares for the children of our students, lecturers and support staff while at work at MIT, as well as preschool children from surrounding South Auckland communities.

MIT is currently looking for an inspirational individual to lead our child education centre. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is forward-thinking, innovative, and focused on creating an environment of learning, growth and people development. While reporting to the head of student experience and success, this pivotal position will require someone with exceptional interpersonal skills, diplomacy and cultural competence. Your collaborative inclusive leadership style will inspire the team to support your fresh approach, have input and get behind the vision for the centre.

A key relationship will be supporting the team leader who is responsible for the educational requirements of the centre’s teachers. Partnering with the team leader you will provide guidance when required and role-model a hands-on approach and can-do attitude that welcomes ideas and challenges thinking.

You are currently a people leader with sound emotional intelligence who can build a team culture that incorporates MIT values; we are real, manaakitanga; we are connected and we are excellent. Ideally your leadership experience is gained from the education sector and you bring knowledge of early childhood practice.

  • Ideally 5–7 years' leadership experience
  • Strong business acumen with evidence of growth strategy and financial management
  • Qualification in early childhood education
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification is also preferred with clean criminal record and NZ residency.
