We are looking for a dynamic head teacher to join us in this leadership role starting in February. This is a position for a qualified, registered and fully certified ECE teacher with over 5 years' experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the 'magic' that is the AKA!
For success in this role, you will need to:
Balance day-to-day operations and staff management alongside relationships management and teaching duties. It's always varied, challenging, and interesting
Lead by example in delivering a bicultural experience within the kindergarten
Advocate for and support the facilitation, development and implementation of practices that incorporate te reo and Tikanga Māori
Demonstrate a sound understanding of Te Whāriki and current ECE theories and practices, with strength in implementing curriculum, planning and assessment
Have a passion for sustainability and the environment, as we are a proud Enviroschool
Support our play-based learning philosophy
Be financially and operationally minded, to manage and maintain high operating standards
Create a welcoming and inclusive community spirit within the kindergarten, and be an active facilitator of community engagement
Innovate, think outside the box, and support new ways of doing things
Communicate with confidence and build relationships
Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of people management, employment legislation, ECE and health and safety regulations.
