We have an amazing opportunity for 2 qualified and registered (willing to mentor beginning teachers) teachers to join our whānau. Our small community-based centre works on a philosophy of whakawhanaungatanga which encompasses our community who work together to achieve a common purpose.

Our new teachers need to:

  • Be motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, able to work effectively within a team and within our centre philosophy
  • Have knowledge of programme planning, self-review, the ability to track, document and share children’s learning
  • Have the ability to create a warm and welcoming environment for children and have a proactive approach to providing a stimulating learning environment
  • Use open communication that encourages, values and reflects whānau contribution and feedback
  • Demonstrate a high standard of respect and confidentiality to maintain, and sustain, strong trusting relationships
  • Utilise the environment to be creative with teaching approaches that draw children’s interest and support learning
  • Demonstrate the ability to make connections and communicate with children, whānau and teachers effectively
  • Acknowledge and role model cultural practices and the use of te reo Māori in everyday practice.
