Due to a member of our team taking on a leadership role, we have an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to join our team. 

About us:

Our kindergarten is operated by Central Kids Early Education, who manage 55 other kindergartens and early learning centres throughout the central North Island.

Central Kids provide access to high-quality professional development opportunities and ongoing professional support to maintain quality teaching practice. 

Located in Kawerau, our centre provides a happy space for tamariki. Our core values are strongly focused around language, culture and identity.

'Ruia taku taitea, kia rongo taikākā', 

('Know me before you teach me'). 

We are a mainstream kindergarten with practices centred around kaupapa, Māori beliefs, values and practices. Manaakitanga, Tuakana – Teina, caring for one another, making milestones, celebrating together, whakawhanaungatanga. 

We have a large outdoor area with a large sandpit and plenty of climbing equipment that challenges children. We have gardens for planting kai and a fruit orchard, our whānau take partnership in learning alongside the children with our gardens. Our indoor area provides a large range of educational, fun resources to support children’s learning. We have a range of aquarium life which the children take care of daily.

We are looking for a teacher with the following attributes:

  • A motivated, enthusiastic teacher, who is able to put current theory into practice
  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Te Whāriki
  • Able to have robust conversations and work with a team who have a strong emphasis on whakawhanaungatanga as they support each child's social and emotional growth
  • Committed to creating/maintaining strong, positive relationships within the wider community and outside agencies
  • Able to demonstrate a growth mindset, be open and willing to change that enables us to continue providing high-quality early education to all tamariki who attend our services
  • ECE qualified and hold current certification and a current first aid certificate.
