We seek 2 enthusiastic, innovative, highly motivated, organised and culturally responsive learning support coordinators. 

Previous experience, knowledge and skills with supporting students with learning difficulties are an advantage for this role. Support students through building an inclusive school or kura and cluster environment which encourages participation, progress and successful transitions.

  • Support kaiako/teachers in schools and kura to lift their capability to better meet the needs of learners, and to strengthen their connections with early learning services
  • Support parents and whānau to build better relationships of understanding around learning support and establishing points of contact if needed
  • Work alongside other LSCs across the cluster and connect with the learning support facilitator and wider agencies e.g. Oranga Tamariki, to access services and resources to support learners
  • Work with school or kura leadership team to influence and encourage them about ensuring the needs of all students receive the appropriate support to enhance their learning and progress. 

Excellent liaison skills are crucial to make positive relationships with a wide range of people, along with having the ability to be adaptable, show initiative and be determined to make a difference. 

One position will have a focus on working with students who are prevented from accessing the curriculum because of physical, sensory or cognitive impairments. This person will have the passion to work with our learners with significant learning needs.

The other position will have a focus on working with students who are not achieving because of specific learning differences, behavioural difficulties and other learning disorders. This person will be passionate about removing barriers to learning and uncovering the underlying reasons for disengagement. 

Both positions will have significant involvement with transitioning processes both in and out of Papanui High School.
