We are seeking a kaiako reorua who is capable of delivering up to a Level 2 immersion programme with at least 51% instruction in te reo Māori to commence term 1, 2020. This position will come with a fixed-term management unit with schoolwide responsibilities. You will belong to a collaborative team, supported by our kaumātua and leadership team, driven by whānau aspirations and supported in practice by our resource teacher of Māori. We can offer the option of renting a home within our Burnham community, if needed.
To be considered for the position, applicants will:
Be registered teachers and have demonstrated successful experience in working with and including ākonga with a Māori medium education
Have a sound knowledge and ability to integrate Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and the New Zealand Curriculum
Have the capabilities to speak and deliver up to a Level 2 immersion programme
Have the ability to engage at an iwi, hapū, whānau, staff and leadership level
Have strong knowledge of te ao and tikanga Māori
Have the ability to tutor our school kapa haka group
Have effective strategies to encourage and positively engage ākonga
Have influencing skills at a working level to provide opportunities in cultural leadership and tuakana-teina relationships
Have met professional standards relevant to their current position.
