We are seeking a fully registered teacher to join our collaborative teaching environment, in the position of learning support coordinator. This is a fully released role. You will work alongside the SENCO as part of a team, to support the unique learning needs of our students across our school. As part of this role, you will work closely with other LSCs within Matariki Kāhui Ako based at William Colenso College.

A role description for the LSCs as well as responses to Frequently Asked Questions outline the specific details of these exciting new positions.

Duties include class teaching, group work, liaising with teachers and parents to ensure that student needs are recognised and addressed. Necessary qualities will include empathy, high levels of organisation, thoroughness, attention to detail and excellent people skills.

To be considered for the position, applicants will be registered teachers and have:

  • Demonstrated successful experience in working with students and young people with learning support needs in the classroom 
  • A sound knowledge, commitment to, and understanding of the learning support system and the learning support action plan priorities
  • The ability to engage at a school and Kāhui Ako leadership level 
  • Influencing skills at a working level within a school and the wider Kāhui Ako
  • An understanding and knowledge of culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential
  • A current teaching practising certificate and relevant teaching qualification
  • Met professional standards relevant to their current position
  • Ability to undertake learning and cognitive assessments to support the differentiation of student programmes
  • Ability to learn differing assessment practices to meet the needs of a range of learner needs
  • Ability to support the SAC programme for senior students (Special Assessment Conditions).
