We are a Ngāti Whakaue STEAM designated character school for Y1–10. 

We provide opportunities for all students to ignite their passion in learning, we do this by delivering a meaningful and relevant curriculum drawn largely from our own local context and mātauranga ā iwi. We are committed to the sustainability of Ngāti Whakaue reo and tikanga.

We are looking for an experienced senior primary teacher who is passionate about learning, teaching and education. They will be prepared to continuously improve their practice and be driven to excellence. Our teachers will pursue individual learning inquiries each year and will be committed to their own journey of te reo Māori, Mātauranga Māori and Maramataka.

To be successful you will have proven knowledge, skills and/or experience in the following:

  • Able to encourage and support positive relationships with students and their whānau, team members, hapu, iwi and members of the wider school community
  • Empower students to achieve their education goals and are dedicated to raising attainment and accelerating progress for each and every student
  • Enable the identity, language and culture of Ngāti Whakaue to become embedded in all aspects of school life
  • Practice and model a culture of collaboration, innovation and exploration
  • Support the delivery of a unique curriculum based on mātauranga Māori and western science
  • Implement systems, policies and procedures as required
  • Continuously build your own knowledge and understanding of education within a kaupapa Māori context and are reflective about your own practice and welcome high-quality coaching
  • Drive and determination to be a consistently excellent teacher
  • Hard worker and a positive team player
  • Passionate about engaging and enthusing tamariki to learn
  • Embrace the flexibility to be creative and make learning exciting and purposeful.
