Our association has been providing early childhood education in South Canterbury for over 75 years and is the largest ECE provider in the region. Our 12 kindergartens are spread throughout the district from Timaru to Twizel. With an experienced senior teacher team, SCK is part of a combined initiative that will be providing professional support to the Waimate, Geraldine, Oamaru and Ashburton Kindergarten Associations from 2020.

Our association prides itself on a harmonious, unified, professional culture where all employees are valued. There is a developing focus on sustainable practices, wellbeing and creating effective systems. All 12 kindergartens are members of Enviroschools.

Our association offers strong support to all staff and has a comprehensive professional development programme that we believe is indicative of our progressive approach.

We are very focused on employing passionate, energetic and committed professionals to join our team.

Our kindergarten environment has been well-planned and developed over many years, enjoys excellent support from the parent community and has a significant waiting list. We are an all-day kindergarten operating from 7.45am–5.15pm for 49 weeks per year with 44 child places (10 children in the U2s and up to 34 children in the O2s).

The kindergarten team is passionate about maintaining a warm, respectful, nurturing environment for tamariki.

We welcome enquiries and can arrange visits to the kindergarten.

Applicants must

  • Be a fully qualified and registered teacher
  • Have a current first aid certificate.

SCK adheres to the employment conditions as offered in the Kindergarten Teachers', Head Teachers' and Senior Teachers' Collective Agreement 2019–2022.
