Oratia District School is unique in New Zealand in that it has a small side school with a special character of its own. On the Lone Kauri Road near Karekare Beach, Lone Kauri School is attached to the Oratia staffing schedule. Lone Kauri School is set in the bush and accessed through paddocks. It caters for about 30 students from Y0–6, under the direction of two teachers and part-time teacher aide. Our well-respected and long-standing senior teacher is leaving Lone Kauri School, so we are looking for a suitable replacement to start the new year in 2020.
This position calls for an experienced teacher with a broad understanding of the NZ Curriculum, and an ability to cater for multiple levels within the same class. Strong communication skills are necessary alongside the skill to build collegial relationships with work colleagues. It is important that the successful candidate can honour the traditions and history of this unique school while also leveraging modern technology and teaching practices to provide opportunities for success for all students.
