Does this sound like you?

A board of trustees requires a range of skills and experience. Trustees need to work well in a team, be forward-thinking and innovative, and be able to put plans in place for each school’s future. Great communication skills, a willingness to ask challenging questions and excellent organisational skills will contribute to the ongoing effectiveness of the board.

It would also be beneficial to have an awareness of school governance systems and structures, or knowledge and experience in areas such as education, finance, law, property, human resources, health and/or the social sector. Understanding the interfaces between Health and Education and their impact on students is also desirable. Candidates should also have an understanding of the needs of the Ministry’s priority groups of learners which include students with learning support needs, and Māori and Pacific students.

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, including Māori, Pacific and those with disabilities, who will enrich our understanding of the education system.
