The faculty of education and social work currently has a key position available for an experienced academic to join the team as a lecturer or senior lecturer.

As the senior lecturer/lecturer you will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality Pacific bilingualism/biliteracy education using pedagogical practices that are informed by an indepth understanding of relevant research and practice settings and issues.

  • You will teach courses using appropriate and effective assessment methods and principles to enhance quality learning
  • You will supervise postgraduate (masters and doctoral) students
  • You will contribute to the research culture of the programme, the school and the faculty
  • You will seek out opportunities for externally funded research.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work in a collaborative team environment, not only within their school but across the faculty, and who can demonstrate the potential to lead aspects of teaching and research. You need to be willing to participate in service to the school, faculty, profession and discipline and have the desire to contribute to building a strong performance-based culture in a faculty that aspires to lead learning and change lives.

Skills and experience:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • An ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with others, in particular Pasifika communities and other relevant practice communities
  • A PhD/Doctorate in Bilingual/Biliteracy Education, TESOL/SLA (or near completion)
  • An indepth knowledge of research in Pacific education and/or bilingual/biliteracy education
  • An active research portfolio which can demonstrate potential for future research productivity, as evidenced by recent publications and work in progress.
