Our school seeks applications for the head of Ngā Tūmanako o Kahurangi; the whānau unit within Auckland Girls’ Grammar School. This position will commence as soon as possible after the beginning of 2020.
Ngā Tūmanako o Kahurangi fosters Māori values of manaakitanga, whakaaro Māori, mahi tahi, tautoko, te hiringa taketake, ako me mana tangata-mana wahine hoki. Ngā Tūmanako o Kahurangi achieves this by creating an environment where academic success, innovation, high achievement and cultural responsiveness flourish within an educational context.
The successful applicant will:
Teach te reo Māori with a focus on excellent outcomes for tauira in the unit
Contribute to leading the delivery of Māori performing arts including kapa haka
Be a member of the school’s faculty board
Work closely with the senior leadership team to embed Māori initiatives across the school, and with whānau, hapū, iwi and other groups who also support school and Māori student initiatives
Develop leadership skills of students, actively seek and capitalise on opportunities for tauira in Ngā Tūmanako o Kahurangi
Work with the senior leadership team, board of trustees and whānau to implement the Kahurangi Strategic Plan.
