Due to promotion we are looking for a new learning community leader for our Y1–2 team. Our new entrants community is named Heretaunga Haukū nui. This is a line from an important Ngati Kahungunu tauparapara which describes Heretaunga (the plains of Hastings) and its life-giving waters (streams and rivers, underground aquifers and the dews) that make our whenua so fertile.
Our learning community leaders are experienced teachers, who know and love our unique NZ Curriculum and really enjoy working with tamariki and whānau. They understand that all children and teachers are unique and need differing levels of support. They work hard and are consummate professionals who are driven to make a difference.
You will have had some experience in leadership of other teachers within your current school and will have shown that you are well-organised, can influence and coach colleagues and can earn the respect of those you work with. You will be a capable communicator who can form relationships with tamariki, teachers, whānau and the many agencies our leaders work with.
You will lead a hard-working, passionate, tamariki-centred team of teachers and learning assistants, within a large, diverse and growing culturally responsive school. As LCL of our Y1–2 team, you will be passionate about learning and know how to spark passion, creativity and enthusiasm for learning. You will see learning holistically with literacy and numeracy as important competencies.
All our teachers work in ‘Duplex’ (2 adjoining and open responsive learning environments). Ideally, you will have worked in a collaborative teaching and learning environment before. You will understand what it means to be culturally responsive and what this means for the way you work as a leader and as a lead teacher.
