We are seeking 2 highly capable learning support coordinators, who will work collaboratively as part of a strong and cohesive, inclusive learning team. These are permanent positions, based at Aquinas College, but support the needs of all the children and young people across Aquinas College (Tauranga), St Mary’s Catholic School (Tauranga), St Thomas More Catholic School (Mt Maunganui) and St Joseph’s Catholic School (Opotiki). The successful applicants will be supportive of the Catholic character of our schools, have exceptional interpersonal skills, a solutions-focused understanding of a wide range of students' additional needs, and a creative vision for this exciting new role.
The learning support coordinators will work to build the learning support capability of kaiako/teachers, and to help identify and plan for the learning support needs of all the children and young people across our schools. These are coordinating roles but require the incumbents to be experienced teachers in order to know how to engage with kaiako/teachers to support the development of their practice in working with children and young people with a range of learning support needs. No learning support experience is necessary but will be considered an advantage. An empathy and understanding for all learners and their whānau is a requirement of the position.
