We are a special character state school where students are central in directing their own learning. We are looking for an exceptional senior leader (Y1–13) who can think beyond the framework of conventional teaching and learning.

In this role, you will:

  • Foster an environment where each student can learn at their own pace, using learning methods that work for them
  • Lead a team of educators who don’t just teach, but coach, mentor and facilitate, so young learners can attain their individual goals
  • Encourage teachers to continually improve and align with the most recent discoveries in education
  • Value parents as stakeholders and encourage family members to commit to the special character of the school by sharing their time and resources in ways that are most meaningful to them
  • Design and implement innovative student-centred systems and programmes of learning that make the most of our purpose-built campus located in the heart of Christchurch
  • Effectively support the director and collaborate with the other senior leaders
  • Contribute to reimagining what a school should be
  • You will have demonstrated successful leadership of student relationships, student-led curriculum, student leadership and innovative teaching and learning.

We believe children should be central in directing their own learning. We want children to learn that this is just as important as being taught the '3Rs'. We trust that students will drive their own learning by engaging with authentic and personally meaningful problems. We have absolute confidence that our learners will advance when they have demonstrated competency in an area, regardless of their year level.

If you are a leader with a proven record of ensuring that every moment a student has at school provides several opportunities for her or him to follow their passions and to develop new interests, we strongly encourage you to apply.

The position begins in term 1, 2020.
