We have an opportunity for an outstanding educator to work across the schools in our Taita/Stokes Valley Kāhui Ako. We have recently appointed 2 LSCs (to start January 2020) and this is our third LSC position. Our vision is to be a strong, collaborative learning community which embraces our cultural diversity and maximises the opportunities for all family, whānau, students and teachers to meet their potential and enjoy success.
We are a united and collaborative Kāhui Ako working to create a clear pathway for our tamariki from primary to secondary school. We have a wide range of cultures with Māori and Pasifika the majority.
This position will start in January 2020. The successful applicant will be working alongside 2 newly appointed learning support coordinators. The LSCs will work with students, teachers, whānau and agencies to support the learning of our students and will be based at one school and work across the Taita/Stokes Valley Kāhui Ako (6 primary and 1 secondary school).
Key attributes for the role include:
Demonstrating an ability to form positive, outcome-based relationships with students/whānau and staff across our 7 schools
Demonstrating successful experience in working with and including students with learning support needs in the classroom
The ability to form effective collaborative relationships within our LSC team, with other LSCs and with the SENCO and senior staff within individual schools
A sound knowledge, commitment to, and understanding of the learning support system and the learning support action plan priorities
The ability to engage at a school/kura and Kāhui Ako leadership level working to enhance learning opportunities for identified students
Understanding of te ao Māori
A current teaching practising certificate and relevant teaching qualification
