Are you an experienced visionary leader who brings out the best in people, develops strengths and builds effective teams?

  • Are you a passionate, experienced Christian educator with a vision to prepare teachers who will make a transformative difference in the lives of those they teach?
  • Are you ready and excited to embrace a new opportunity?

BTI in Tauranga is seeking such a person to provide strategic, people and programme leadership to the school of teacher education in its next exciting phase of development. Our vision is to develop well-prepared, wise and innovative teachers who have a heart to serve communities and nations – both in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

You will be expected to set and lead a strong collaborative, collegial, outward-focused, innovative culture in the school and teach and research in teacher education. It is a prerequisite for this role that you can demonstrate a wholehearted embracing of BTI’s vision to be ‘a faithful expression of the Kingdom of God on earth’ and to the values which shape and underpin its programmes.

We have an excellent reputation for our initial teacher education programmes for secondary, primary and early childhood as well as for supporting teachers through professional learning development opportunities.

As head of school you will be a part of the strategic leadership team and report directly to the CEO and dean and be a registered teacher with a current full practising teacher certificate. It is essential you have significant experience leading people, most likely at a senior level within an educational context. Knowledge of and experience with Christian education is critical to this role as is an understanding of tikanga Māori. Ideally, you may have a portfolio of research, scholarship and professional inquiry. A doctorate is preferred but not essential.
