  • Are you an experienced Christian educator with a passion for preparing teachers who will make a difference in the lives of those they teach?
  • Are you ready and excited to embrace a new opportunity?

BTI in Tauranga (Bay of Plenty) is seeking such a person to join the school of teacher education in its next exciting phase of development. The opportunities for Christian initial and ongoing teacher education are great. Our vision is to develop well prepared, wise and innovative teachers who have a heart to serve communities and nations – both in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

It is a prerequisite for this role that you can demonstrate a wholehearted embracing of BTI’s vision to be ‘a faithful expression of the Kingdom of God on earth’ and to the values which shape and underpin its programmes: a biblical worldview as formational, strength-based missional service, Treaty-based relationships, and personal and professional inquiry and integration.

If successful you will teach and research in the area of teacher education. We have an excellent reputation for our initial teacher education programmes for secondary, primary and early childhood as well as for supporting teachers through professional learning development opportunities. Central to our approach to initial teacher education is the commitment to developing ‘wise educators who are gracious, secure and teachable and whose teaching is relational, transformative, and responsive’ through programmes and people who are faith-informed, hope inspired, and motivated by love.

You will be a registered teacher with a current full practising teacher certificate. Knowledge of and experience with Christian education is critical to this role as is an understanding of tikanga Māori. Ideally, you may have a portfolio of research, scholarship and professional inquiry and at least a Master's degree; a willingness to advance in qualifications is preferred.
