Our college

We are dedicated to the enhancement of educational practice through high-quality teaching and research. Our campus delivers a range of teacher education programmes in early childhood and primary and primary bicultural education.

The role

This professional practice fellow role within the college of education in Invercargill represents an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to our teacher education students.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Supporting teaching in the BEd Tch, primary and primary bicultural programmes, and supervising BEd Tch students on teaching practice placements
  • Carrying out administration responsibilities
  • Contributing to campus whanaungatanga, and the department's academic goals by applying and sharing expert knowledge in the professional discipline of education.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this key role, you will have:

  • Relevant professional qualification in teaching
  • Current New Zealand teacher registration
  • Relevant professional experience in a primary school or tertiary institution
  • Recent experience in teaching the New Zealand Curriculum, particularly in the learning areas of English and science
  • Evidence of an ability to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds
  • A strong commitment to te reo Māori, Tikanga Māori and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and to equal opportunity.

This is a permanent, part-time (0.45 FTE) position available from 1 February 2020.
