The Aurora College and Southland Boys’ High School Boards of Trustees, on behalf of the Invercargill Kāhui Ako, are seeking 4 learning support coordinators beginning 2020.

This exciting opportunity will be developed through collaboration of the Invercargill Kāhui Ako and the employing boards.

The roles will be working together, 2 will be employed and situated at Southland Boys’ High School and 2 at Aurora College.

The 4 positions will cover the schools and kindergartens in the Invercargill Kāhui Ako, including: Southland Boys’ High School, Aurora College, Invercargill Middle School, New River Primary School, Tisbury School, Wallacetown School and kindergartens within Kindergartens South.

These roles will: 

    • Support students through building an inclusive school or kindergarten and cluster environment which encourages participation, progress and successful transitions
    • Support kaiako/teachers in schools and kindergartens to lift their capability to better meet the needs of learners, and to strengthen their connections with early learning services
    • Support parents and whānau to build better relationships of understanding around learning support and establishing points of contact if needed
    • Work alongside other LSCs across the cluster and connect with the learning support facilitator and wider agencies, e.g. Oranga Tamariki, to access services and resources to support learners
    • Work with school or kindergarten leadership teams and the management team of the Invercargill Kāhui Ako to influence and encourage them to ensure all students receive the appropriate support to enhance their learning and progress.
