Our school is a modern, Catholic-faith learning environment for Y1–8 students. We are a rural U2/U3 school with a roll of around 101 students.

Pahiatua is a busy rural hub nestled east of the Tararua ranges. We are in a central location, 30 minutes to Palmerston North and 45 minutes to Masterton with easy access to Wellington, Taupo and Napier.

Our school is a family-friendly and caring community and is supported by a strong board of trustees and parish.

Our new principal/tumuaki will be an exemplary leader who will balance being fair and compassionate and will continue to prioritise student achievement and wellbeing. They will build on the success of our shared vision, cultural identity and beginnings of te reo knowledge. Our students are looking for an approachable, energetic leader who can be someone they look up to.

You will:

  • Be a passionate, Catholic, faith leader who takes an active role in the parish and who will continue to strengthen our parish and school relationship
  • Be an excellent communicator, committed to creating and encouraging trusting relationships that build mutual respect, being compassionate towards students, family/whānau, staff and the community
  • Be passionate about and open to learning
  • Be willing to learn about, promote and practise culturally responsive pedagogies
  • Continue to lead, support and participate within a team so that all staff can be their best spiritual, personal and professional selves
  • Be hard-working, well organised, flexible and have effective time management skills.

The principal/tumuaki will accept and recognise the responsibility to maintain and enhance the special character of the school. A willingness and ability to participate in religious instruction appropriate to the special character of the school is a condition of appointment.

The position will commence term 1, 2020.
