An exciting opportunity has come up for an experienced and dynamic head teacher to join our friendly and dedicated team at this kindergarten. This position is 40 hours per week.

As well as being a qualified, registered and fully certified ECE teacher with over 5 years' experience, you will also have a strong background in providing professional leadership, to support, develop and empower a multi-talented team. You will lead by example to role model a high-quality education programme, and oversee successful operational performance. You will be an empowering leader who supports others to succeed. Most important is your passion for achieving great outcomes with children, and for being the best leader you can be. 

For success in this role, you will also need to:

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive community spirit within the kindergarten, and a positive community profile
  • Innovate, think outside the box, support new ways of doing things
  • Communicate with confidence and build relationships
  • Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of people management, employment legislation, ECE and health and safety regulations
  • Be financially and operationally minded, to manage and maintain high operating standards
  • Maintain an effective relationship with the administrator, and oversee enrolments and waiting lists
  • Advocate for and implement practices that reflect te reo, Tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Lead by example in delivering a bicultural experience within the kindergarten
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Te Whāriki 
  • Demonstrate an indepth knowledge of current ECE theories and practices.
