We are looking for a science teacher, with an interest in teaching agriculture and horticulture, for our secondary school. Will teach Y9–10, while experience of NCEA Level 1–3 is also important. We have a school farm and run agriculture programmes. Horticulture is an area for potential development.
Area schools provide a unique and privileged insight into the growth and development of young people, from the age of 5 until early adulthood, and the opportunity to interact with a range of age groups.
Taihape is a beautiful town located on SH1 in a high country paradise of rivers, ranges, forests, farms, and mountains. Our 300 students come from a catchment roughly the size of Auckland, so there is a lot of wilderness, and many adventures, available.
Houses are affordable, you won't be stuck in traffic for hours each day, we have great cafes, and a wide range of recreational options available – including skiing, rafting/kayaking, hunting, tramping, sports, and service groups. The school plays a huge role within the local community.
Class sizes are small, the buildings are modern, we are very well-resourced, and our ERO reports are positive.
If you occasionally need a bigger town, Palmerston North, Whanganui, Taupo, Napier and Hastings are all within 1½–2 hours.
Accommodation may be available.
Start time 22 January, 2020.
We are an area school (Y1–13), decile 4, 60% Māori and we are a PB4L school.
