We are an innovative and forward-thinking, decile 8 coeducational Y7–13 school located in Leeston, approximately 30 minutes south of Christchurch. With the announcement earlier this year of a school redevelopment, this is an exciting time to join a progressive school and be a part of leading and designing change in New Zealand education.
We are seeking an innovative, collaborative divergent-thinking educator with a flexible growth mindset who is passionate about teaching and wants to be part of our dynamic and collaborative team. A commitment to providing rich authentic learning contexts in an integrated way across curriculum areas Y7–11 is essential, as is the ability to develop and create flexible and responsive assessment practices for students across the school.
Over the coming years we are developing a pedagogical approach which will provide contextualised and coherent opportunities for deep, culturally sustaining learning whilst providing learners choice and agency to develop skills, knowledge and qualifications. We believe in the concept of ako and that we are all learners. Collaborative practice is fundamental to our curriculum and as educators we know we can always learn from all other stakeholders.
We are a restorative practices school and believe strongly in building and enhancing positive professional relationships with young people. All teachers are expected to be involved in our whānau system and will be supported to provide awhi and care for students and their learning.
Our school is community-focused and we encourage all staff to contribute to the varied learning opportunities that are offered to students in such an environment.
