Tumuaki tuarua / deputy principal
The establishment board of trustees is looking for several key positions within our newly established Y9–11 integrated state school. Our special character focuses on tikanga ā-iwi placing an emphasis on the learning and teaching of traditions and customs of ngā iwi o Tūranganui-a-Kiwa: Rongowhakaata, Ngāi Tāmanuhiri and Te Aitanga a-Māhaki through a STEAM (science / technology / engineering / art/ maths) based curriculum.
Our opening is planned for term 1, 2020.
You must have the proven desire to teach tikanga ā-iwi through STEAM subjects. Experience in the New Zealand Curriculum and knowledge of the NCEA framework is desirable.
Being a visionary educational professional with a reputation for engaging, inspiring, challenging and empowering students and staff is essential.
Tikanga of Tūranganui-a-Kiwa and strong te reo Māori is a must for this role as well as proven school management and leadership.
The successful appointees will be expected to take up this position in term 4 unless otherwise negotiated.
