We are looking for an experienced primary or secondary-trained teacher to lead our innovative learning support department and to undertake the SENCO role in our school.
Although this role is 0.6, further teaching hours may be available. Please state your preferred subjects.
The successful applicant will:
Lead and further develop inclusive practice at our school
Have current knowledge and experience in understanding specific learning disabilities, behaviour, and other specialist areas of child and adolescent development including how this relates to learning, engagement and achievement
Lead differentiated design and delivery of individual education plans and individual learning programmes
Provide guidance and professional development for staff, within available resources, to ensure maximum effect on student learning
Foster effective relationships with the pastoral team, principal’s nominee, teachers, professional agencies and whānau and coordinate approaches as needed
Facilitate the successful transition and support for identified learners and contribute to the placement of students, including liaison with whānau and contributing schools
Lead our teacher aide team, including timetabling and resource acquisition and allocation for priority learners
Coordinate and lead the identification of and provision of Special Assessment Conditions (SAC) for students
Update wellbeing and learning register, identifying students with academic, social, and physical needs.
