Qualified early childhood educator or 3rd year student
Our centre is trialling a distributed leadership model and while we develop this we require a long-term reliever to join our team as a qualified teacher or third year student (who can count as a qualified teacher).
The distributed leadership model allows teachers to gain leadership skills and benefits without having to step into a formal head teacher or senior teacher position. We offer teachers on our team the opportunity to be part of a parent cooperative, community-based service with a progressive philosophy and curriculum drawn from Te Whāriki and with an emphasis on Te Tiriti Curriculum and Pasifika. As a teacher on our team you would be involved in teaching and learning that is influenced by RIE philosophy, Penni Brownlee and Kimberly Crisp's Play Curriculum, elements of Steiner and Montessori, while still uniquely Te Kainganui.
Our nature curriculum, Māori pedagogical approach and respectful practice-based infants and toddlers curriculum are aspects of our practice that teachers develop capacities in. Opportunities for teachers to strengthen their leadership capabilities are a priority of the distributed leadership model.
