Speech language therapist
0.4 South Auckland / 0.4 West Auckland/North Shore.
We provide educational programmes and services to the deaf and hard-of-hearing students throughout the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand.
This is a fantastic and rewarding opportunity for a qualified speech-language therapist registered with NZSTA to apply for a permanent 0.8 FTTE position within our specialist services team. This position is covered under the Primary Teachers’ Collective Agreement and salary is dependent on experience and level of qualification.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will work as part of our dedicated multidisciplinary specialist services team working collaboratively with our core school enrolled learners (Y1–15), their families/whānau, centre staff, teachers and paraprofessionals within our centre. There is an expectation for you to travel to our deaf provisions based in mainstream schools across metropolitan Auckland.
You will have strong communication skills including New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) or demonstrate a commitment to learning NZSL. You will be able to demonstrate a professional and caring manner and are adept at building and maintaining relationships with our learners, families, centre staff and teachers whilst expressing sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity. You will have the ability to work independently and manage your time effectively. A current driver’s licence is required as there will be a need for travel to our deaf provisions within metropolitan Auckland.
You will also need a valid permit to both live and work in New Zealand.
