The role 

Reporting to our general manager education and innovation, the area leader is pivotal in engaging and leading our kindergarten teams across Tāmaki Makaurau. The team comprises of 8 area leaders and we are currently recruiting for our eighth member in this team. 

The area leader is responsible for the operational performance and outcomes for their respective cluster. This involves working in partnership with the head teachers/centre managers in building high-performing teams with a positive team culture. The position has between 10 to 12 direct reports, and has operational budget accountability within the assigned cluster. 

The role is based within our support office in Queen Street, but regular travel is required to visit kindergartens within the assigned cluster.  

About you 

An experienced ECE people leader, your positive leadership style and proven ability to engage, build trust, coach, and motivate diverse groups will see you succeed in this pivotal leadership role. 

We are keen to hear from individuals who have previous ECE centre management or multi-site management experience. 

Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of best practice ECE education is highly essential for this role. You are passionate about building teams; use data effectively to identify improvements; are analytical, logical; a confident communicator and effective relationship builder. Most importantly, you understand how accountability and effective decision making plays an integral role in positive engagement and achieving outcomes.
