We have been operating in the heart of Epsom for over 30 years. It is a vibrant, not-for-profit, community-based, licensed early childhood centre that provides care and education for tamariki between the ages of 2 and 4 years of age. Our programme is planned to foster the development and creativity of each tamariki. Play and learning are self-paced and self-directed with tamariki being guided and encouraged through activities.

We are currently recruiting for a teacher to join our small team. The creche currently runs 5 morning sessions, 9am–12.30pm, with a maximum roll of 15 tamariki per session with two teachers and a parent help on each session.  The creche is closed during the school holidays and our term times are in line with the primary school calendar. The role is 32 hours per week (40 weeks a year) – a combination of teaching and non-contact time.

The creche intends to increase its sessions to 9am–2pm later this year.  When this occurs, your overall hours will remain the same (changing to 25 teaching and 7 non-contact hours).

The ideal candidate will have a passion for EC education along with experience in Te Whāriki and hold a BEd/Dip Tch (ECE) and be provisionally or fully registered. We are looking for someone who is able to engage positively and meaningfully with tamariki and adults, and be committed to ongoing professional learning and be a team player. Someone who can demonstrate patience, compassion, reliability and fun. This role would suit someone who is keen to roll up their sleeves and get involved.

Being a community creche means it is governed by the teachers and a committee of parents.

There will also be room for career progression. Ideally this role would commence at the beginning of term 3.
