A great opportunity exists for a teacher to teach and support students in our supported inclusion unit. We have a large number of ORS funded students throughout our school and we are looking for a stellar teacher who is knowledgeable, experienced in regular classrooms, compassionate and an inclusive practitioner. The successful applicant will have exemplary personnel management skills, be strongly culturally responsive and have a deep empathy for all, in particular disabled students and their families. She or he must be flexible, a team player, a problem solver and needs to be open minded; focused on positive outcomes for students who have a wide range of ability and needs. The role requires working alongside the SENCO, another specialist teacher in our Whare Manaaki as well as regularly communicating and collaborating with our staff and parents. She/he will also effectively liaise with support agencies and services. Sound pedagogical knowledge is essential and the successful person will have proven experience working innovatively within Te Whāriki and the NZ Curriculum. The ability to keep things in perspective and to contribute with a great sense of humour are highly valued in our school.
