Qualified early childhood educator / kaiako
An exciting opportunity to become a member of our teaching team and learning community. The role is due to be made a full-time position at some point in 2020, which is the reason it is currently offered as a fixed-term contract.
We are a mixed-age centre, ages 1–5 years, with all tamariki together for the majority of the day, allowing tuakana/teina pedagogy to unfold. At our villa-style centre we strive for a 'home-like' environment, with close, connected relationships as a core philosophy. Developing and implementing our Te Tiriti curriculum is a current priority, and play curriculum and a nature-based curriculum where Te Ngahere/Forest Days feature are all important aspects of our teaching and learning programme. Our infants and toddlers curriculum is closely aligned with RIE philosophy and we also implement approaches based on Kimberly Crisp and Montessori. We are currently developing our curriculum for older learners and the teaching team are engaged in action research/teacher inquiry into their planning practices.
As a member of the teaching team there will be many opportunities for involvement in all of our professional development and for extending and developing your own practice.
