At this kindergarten, children direct their own learning. Planning a day around children’s particular interests is a special feature of our programme. This involves the child, their peers, their teachers and family and whānau.
Children are viewed as capable and competent learners, and valued contributors and leaders of the programme.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen, 40 hours per week, for a qualified, ECE teacher with provisional or full certification and a minimum of 2–5 years’ experience.
We are looking for someone who has strong bicultural practice, and is competent in using ICT as a teaching tool. You will be a team player and ideally be a reflective practitioner with a good understanding of self-review.
The ideal candidate would demonstrate the following abilities and dispostions:
A working understanding of emergent curriculum and Te Whāriki
Respectful of Te Ao Māori
Write meaningful and authentic documentation that reflects the child and their learning
Supports philosophy of children having authentic ownership of their learning and being leaders of the programme
Have a sense of humour as well as being passionate and enthusiastic
A warm and welcoming nature and someone who engages and welcomes whānau
Have a commitment to equity and inclusion
Celebrates and responds to diversity
Love challenges, open to possibilities, genuine passion for teaching
A sense of responsibility and willingness to show initiative
Child-led responsive teaching
Calm, peaceful, engaging team member
High standard of written and oral communication
Have either an interest in music, or arts and crafts.
