The Northland Regional Council has a vacancy for a part-time Enviroschools facilitator (primary).
This facilitation role involves working with schools/kura that are participating in the Enviroschools programme. It involves guiding, motivating and supporting schools on their journey towards creating a sustainable school community based on the Enviroschools process.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated professional to work within the Enviroschools team to deliver in-depth environmental education through the Enviroschools programme. This programme supports the council's focus on sustainability, water quality, biodiversity, biosecurity, environmental enterprise and enduring relationships with tangata whenua.
It's a busy and varied role that will see you supporting teachers, leading staff meetings and helping with student Envirogroups. You'll assist schools to integrate education for sustainability into their documents and strengthen community partnerships. You will also support the regional network of Enviroschools.
You'll need to be able to start work in early February, have a New Zealand primary teaching qualification and a working knowledge of the New Zealand curriculum. You will be travelling throughout Northland, so must have a Class 1 driver's licence. At times, you'll be working outside normal hours of work and away from home.
To be successful in this role you'll have a practising knowledge of te reo and Tikanga Māori, be effective at building and maintaining relationships and be a team player.
This is a 12 month fixed-term contract for 0.5 FTE and is intended to be renewed annually.
